Theme Parks as a whole have suffered greatly due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. With immense job loss, construction on new parks and lands for parks worldwide went to a standstill. LEGOLAND New York Resort, which was slated to open in July 2020 decided to wait until 2021 for the grand opening. Now, we have reason to celebrate as this was a great move on LEGOLAND's part. With Governor Cuomo's recent announcement that theme parks will be able to open in March and April under specific guidelines. Starting March 26, indoor amusement parks and entertainment centers can open at 25% capacity.* Outdoor theme parks can reopen on April 9 at 33% capacity.** Keep in mind that these openings are under guidelines to maintain social distancing, mask-wearing, frequent disinfecting must be done, and more to ensure that COVID-19 stays at bay and under control allowing for New Yorkers to start going back to normal pre-COVID times.

If it were not for this pandemic, LEGOLAND New York Resort would have already been operating for nearly a year and readying for the hotel portion to open. With this news, this is a win for LEGOLAND New York Resort and LEGOLAND fans! LEGOLAND New York Resort will be opening this year and will become the first theme park to open in the Northeast in more than four decades

Divisional Director, Stephanie Johnson of LEGOLAND New York Resort said:

“We are thrilled with Governor Cuomo's announcement for the reopening of family attractions, including outdoor theme parks. This means LEGOLAND® New York Resort will be able to celebrate its grand opening this season as planned and we look forward to sharing more details soon.

Our first priority is always the health, safety and security of our guests and our team. We are awaiting further guidance from New York State on specific safety and operating procedures, which we will follow alongside all federal and local health and safety guidelines.”

The much-anticipated LEGOLAND New York Resort Theme Park will feature 150 acres of LEGO brick goodness. Workers tirelessly worked through this pandemic to bring LEGOLAND New York Resort to life. Just 60 miles away from NYC, we are ready to have an adventure up to majestic Goshen, NY! The opening of LEGOLAND New York Resort is promising the jobs of 1,000 Model Citizens - that is a lot of people, and great growth for Goshen and the surrounding areas. I’m a city girl myself, but I spent every summer in Upstate, New York - it is nice for the countryside of NY to finally get recognized and be put on the map!
LEGOLAND New York Resort will feature seven LEGO-themed lands like LEGO Ninjago, LEGO Friends, LEGO Kingdom, and more! The global debut of the LEGO Factory Adventure Ride will be a great attraction to make this grand opening a blast!
