UPDATED! Disney 100th Anniversary kicks off with some amazing collabs from Funko to LEGO, there’s something for every collector and Disney kid/kid-at-heart. There’s one toy that I cannot believe is back stateside and that’s Disney Tsum Tsum.

Jakk’s Pacific announced on their Instagram page that Disney Tsum Tsum will be returning to help celebrate Disney’s 100th Anniversary.

Yes, Minnie Mouse has already been released, but I can’t help but wonder, will they release special edition versions of these reprints or will they repackage them with the new Disney 100th Anniversary logo?

Here’s the update! 

Perusing Entertainment Earth, I found more important information about our beloved Disney Tsum Tsum!

 

There will be 20 stack packs released with reprints and some new renditions of previously released stack packs. Each stack pack includes an iconic accessory, a main tsum tsum in medium, and a BFF small tsum tsum. There will be five waves of Disney 100th Anniversary Tsum Tsum, so 100 stack

packs should be released! This will most likely include a lot of reprints, but maybe we will see a resurgence of collecting and that hopefully will spawn future series by JAKKS Pacific! One could dream!

New Disney Tsum Tsum Stack Pack!

There is a metallic medium Mickey, and a small Minnie tsum tsum with a metallic plane. This plane is from the Mickey 90 series with the release of Plane Crazy. I feel like they should have made Walt’s Plane like Funko did, but it’s still a nice finish. 

As you can see this is the stack pack plane from Plane Crazy—released for Mickey’s 90th. Take  by me at Magic Kingdom on November 18, 2018.

I found this post on Reddit sharing that Target already put a case of Disney 100th anniversary on the shelves. Target’s website has been updated, so keep checking back!

Even if this was a reprint release, the infatuation and fanfare for Disney Tsum Tsum will again be ignited allowing for new fans to get into this adorable collectible. The Mickey 90 series was in 2018, and commemorated Mickey Mouse’s 90th birthday.

We literally gave Mickey a Disney Tsum Tsum on his 90th birthday on November 18, 2018 at Walt Disney World. 

What are Disney Tsum Tsum?

Jakks Pacific produced the vinyl Disney Tsum Tsum figures from 2015 through 2019. These figures came in three different sizes—small, medium, and large. They also released  blind bags that included iconic accessories popular with the character. Throughout the series, there were 12 waves that highlighted Disney and Pixar fandoms. There was a brief release of The Muppets, and talks of Star Wars, but it never happened. The Disney Tsum Tsum line paired beautifully with the plush that was popular here, but died out with the push of other plush.  

When I started our YouTube channel back in 2016, the first video that I published was a cringe-worthy unboxing of Tsum Tsum Series 1 and 2–by that time we were already collecting, and my then three year old son, Marcello, was also collecting them. The Easter bunny gave him a stack pack blind bag set, so this helped ignite his first collection. 

As a toy collector, I feel very lost when a company abruptly stops production of something we’re collecting. The return of Disney Tsum Tsum from Jakks Pacific marks a pivotal moment in my own history, so I’m very excited to see what they have in store.
