Micro Machines Are Back and Better Than Ever!

Micro Machines are back! Adult collectors and mini aficionado are going to get back in the driver’s seat for the relaunch of this iconic toy line from ‘80s and ‘90s fame. I can remember that fast talking spokesman in the commercials, Motormouth Moschitta, who used to boast at the end of every commercial, “Remember, if it doesn’t say Micro Machines, it’s not the real thing!”

Well, these are the real thing, and they are just as cool, if not cooler than their retro versions. Micro Machines are being revitalized in a big way with a super star collaboration of toy giants Jazwares and Hasbro. The new Micro Machines line is now available at Target and Walmart.

Micro Machines was originally produced by Galoob (they made many of my favorite toys!), which is now Hasbro.

“Micro Machines is one of those collectible lines forever etched in pop culture and the minds of adults who adored them as kids,” said Jeremy Padawer, EVP / Partner  at Jazwares. “Not only will fans of the original Micro Machines love the updated collection, but now they’ll have the chance to introduce this iconic brand to their own kids as they connect and collect their Micro Machine universe together.”

With the relaunch of this iconic toy line, Micro Machines fans will be able to share with their own kids their favorite play-set, Super Van City, that originally was released in 1991. This classic play-set retails for $49.99, and is fully loaded with tons of neat features. You can pre-order it now at Walmart, and find it in stores at Target and at Target.com! Super Van City is a miniature metropolis and  is the backdrop as micros zoom over a working bridge, drive past a construction site, a high rise building, race in your spare time at the drag strip, ramps and alleys, and even the ability to connect to other play-sets. Create a modern Micro Machines world, and once playtime is over, fold it back up to transform  into an Airstream-inspired motorhome. This set even comes with three exclusive vehicles to jump start playtime.

Add on to play-sets and build your Micro Machines collection with a surprise style unboxing as singe packs will be sold in blind bags at just $1.99 each. More options to build up your micro machines collection will be through a Micro Machines World Pack at $9.99 each with a play or display option. Additionally the line also includes new Core Playsets at $14.99 each featuring an exclusive vehicle, and these sets will allow for expansion onto larger sets.

The Core Playsets will include fun expansion sets like a Car Wash and a Tuner Garage. Also, be on the lookout for the Park n’Go Garage Playcase that features a fun ramp to launch your Micro Machines down, and you can even park (and store!) a bunch of vehicles inside. There is also a nifty handle to bring your Micros with you on the go!

Micro Machines could not have returned at a better time. Tiny is mighty today, and the trend for anything smaller than N-scale and even play-scale is truly desired by kids today and even their parents.

Personally, I am excited for this new line more so for the nostalgia factor. I have no doubt, my boys would love the new Micro Machines, but as a toy collector and late 80s/90s kid, I must say this return is truly iconic. Let’s hope Motormouth returns to reprise his most well known role of his career!
