If you're in the NYC area, head over to the FAO Schwarz Flagship Store on July 13 from 11 AM to 2 PM,  head over to the Schleich® concept shop, and get expert storytelling advice from Schleich's Chief Storytelling Officer, Marcello! There will be plenty of Schleich® toys on hand for inspiration, then snap a photo, and share it here.

LEGO Group is hiring one child (ages seven to 17) in the US to join their team of kid creators at the Kids Creative Studio where they will also be working alongside Universal Music Group and LEGO as a Kids Creative Director! How cool is that?! 

What is the Kids Creative Studio?

The Kids Creative Studio is comprised of talented child creators from around the globe where their artistic talents play a major role. Kids Creative Studio is a platform inspired by perseverance and creativity! At the Kids Creative Studio, there are no limits to creativity! The kids are running the show at the Kid Creative Studio (KCS) like Boston and Brock are KCS Assistant Director and KCS Assistant Director of Photographer, respectively.  Bella Klassen is KCS Assistant Choreographer, and Nicole Leano is KCS Head of Choreography. This is just a small handful of the talent behind this new endeavor. Don’t let your kiddo feel intimidated though as this is all about having fun! Scan your LEGO VIDIYO Bandmates into the app to dance!

I have to share my thoughts about the LEGO VIDIYO app, too.

LEGO VIDIYO will push the boundaries of LEGO to a whole new level of fun and creativity. I got a couple of LEGO VIDIYO Bandmates (there the mystery versions of the line), and it was so easy to use. Simply scan your LEGO minifigure into the app, and once it loads, you can start dancing! You do not even need to buy anything to get started - you can use the app as-is and utilize the free features within the app. If you have LEGO VIDIYO products, you obviously get more from the app like the use of the LEGO VIDIYO BeatBits that represent different musical BeatBits are pictured LEGO tiles that coincide with different music genres. Once you unlock more BeatBits. BeatBits unlock more music using Universal Group’s large catalog of music. In the app, kids can also participate in fun challenges to help inspire them to choreograph their own dance movies, and then share their work on the app. Unfortunately, you cannot share videos with family and friends.  

All in all, as a parent, I am very happy with the LEGO VIDIYO app. Anything that gets my son dancing and moving is a plus for me. My seven-year-old son tried it out today and was dancing and having so much! Imagine doing this a few times a day? It’s great exercise! I also really like the fact that kids have a safe space to communicate and share their work. Kids can get feedback from other kids on the app with the use of an emoticon-style response system. Arteza Superhero Art Contest in time for San Diego Comic-Con At Home!

San Diego Comic-Con 2020 is just around the corner. With the announcements of awesome exclusives and ways to learn about your fandoms safely at home, why not get your coloring pens out too and draw up a superhero of your own?! Arteza has an awesome contest where three winners can win one of three amazing prize packs full of Arteza art supplies to fuel your art and your fandom. Enter to win by submitting a rendition of your own superhero. History in the Making

Who else is totally pumped for the new Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020? Published by powerhouse SEGA, the game release date is nearly here. Coding Critters Write-a-Story Contest from Learning Resources - Screen-free STEM Toys for Pre-Schoolers

Learning Resources sent us Coding Critters for free for our review! Before we get into an in-depth look, read on how to enter to win their Write-a-Story contest!

Do your kids like to make up stories while they play? Nurture that creativity and earn the chance to win a great prize pack from Learning Resources with the Coding Critters Write-a-Story contest! With the help from a parent, future coders can download the story sheet, and create an adventure for the adorable coding sets, Coding Critters. 

Coding Critters are comprised of three play-sets featuring a dog, Ranger, a triceratops, Rumble, and a cat, Scamper. Each critter has its own little friend and accessories that coincide with the critter. Playtime is just more fun with these little guys and encourages screen-free playtime all while learning early coding concepts. Kids can command their coding critter to play games like and hide and seek, knockdown boulders, go through tunnels, and more! 

Play alongside the including story booklet that features different ways to have your coding critters do fun tasks. While in code mode, you can input a coding sequence up to 30 steps, and each step is about four inches. Playing alongside the story booklet with help guide the Coding Critters around their included play-set and accessories. While in play mode, Coding Critters can eat, dance, patrol the area, and even nap!  

You can play with your child, or they can code on their own with the help of laying out the directional tiles. Press their nose to switch to play mode, and the Coding Critters can even communicate with their little included friend. The best part is that you can get all three sets, and the Coding Critters can interact with the accessories. 

There are so much that these Coding Critters can do that I need another blog post to show you the value of play within each set!

Kids ages four to 10 will enjoy Coding Critters, and each set is $39.99. Three AAA batteries are required, but not included. Otherwise, right outside of the box you can quickly start the fun!
